Rigoletto and Placido Domingo in Mantua

Domingo as Rigoletto on location in Mantua, September 4 and 5, Live on TV

Placido Domingo, more and more unsinkable, will be Rigoletto in Mantua in a production "on location" (Palazzo Ducale and others in Mantua) of the Verdi opera that will be broadcast live by Italian TV channel RAI Uno on September 4 and 5. Zubin Mehta will conduct Orchestra sinfonica della Rai, legendary DP Vittorio Storaro (Apocalypse Now, The Conformist, The Last Emperor, among many) will be the cinematographer, and Marco Bellocchio will direct. Vittorio Grigolo will be the Duke, Olga Peretyatko will be Gilda.

Directed by Marco Bellocchio, RAI will broadcast «Rigoletto a Mantova» live to 138 countries on September 4 & 5. Although the interactive idea isn't particularly new, it attracts both opera fans and haters.
